REader's JournAl
The Stainless Steel Rat so far has been my favorite science fiction book of all time. Reading through it I laughed at some of the shenanigans of James "Slippery Jim" diGriz. Here a few of my favorite quotes.
"I was waiting for the word charge, I thought it made a nice touch that way."
This is while he drops a safe of money on a robot cops head, who was in the process of arresting him.
"I flirted with her until she walked away, having classified me in the category of MALE, BRASH, ANNOYING."
"I gave them a cheerful wave through the window and gunned the armored truck away from the curb."
Yes, he casually stole an armored truck, with six large bags of money! This book made me laugh or at least smile the whole way through. Harry Harrison gave plenty of wit to the sarcastic James diGriz. Another part about it is that where some people, when put into a tight situation they might attempt to shoot their way out, but now that is not diGriz's way, he tries to fid all other possible ways out first.
